Volunteer Opportunity for Students

We are currently accepting volunteer applications for all sessions.

- Week 1/Session 1:  June 16-20 / 8:30am - 12:30pm 

- Week 1/Session 2:  June 16-20 / 12:30pm - 4:30pm 

- Week 2/Session 1:  June 23-27 / 8:30am - 12:30pm 

- Week 2/Session 2:  June 23-27 / 12:30pm - 4:30pm 

 

Volunteers are needed 4 hours/day for two (2) weeks (the sessions are 3 hours/day for attendees).  The best scenario would be to have the same group of volunteers for the entire two weeks to provide consistency for the children.  If that is not possible then a one (1) week commitment could work.  Different volunteers each day would be difficult as volunteer training would need to happen daily, and our schedule is hopping! 

 

The classes for each session will have 20 Pre-K students. We would like the ratio to be 4:1. We have one (1) certified instructor, and the teen volunteers will be assisting. This will include but may not be limited to the following: 

• Assisting classroom teacher 

• Guiding children to/from classroom/Safety Town 

• Help with check-in/check-out 

• Classroom set-up/clean-up 

• Supervising students 

• Assisting students with art projects 

• Helping students with songs & movements 

• Reading to students 

• Watching videos with students 

• Reinforcing lessons in Safety Town 

• Walking with students around the town obeying crosswalks, signage, etc. 

• Singing safety songs during the walk around town 

• Helping with transition to bikes w/helmets and instructions/review 

• Sitting with children during demonstrations/talks from guest speakers 

• Riding School Bus with Children 

• Assembling daily envelopes to go home 

• Other
